Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released in 14 days. Is anyone else as ridiculously excited for this game as I am? Metal Gear is my all-time favorite videogame series, and it comes to a close in two weeks. I am beyond excite. Will I be playing Metal Gear Online with any opponauts come October 6 when it releases on PS4?

The Phantom Pain is the only new release AAA game I’ll buy this year.

I’ve got The Phantom Pain and Fallout 4 preordered. That should keep me entertained for...quite some time.

There’s no way I’m getting Fallout 4, that’s a trainwreck waiting to happen.

Well, I’ll be playing, but prob not online, since I’m going to go through single player first, and probably won't be done with that in a single day...

Ah, but Metal Gear Online was pushed back. It’s not releasing at the same time as The Phantom Pain. MGO will be ‘enabled’/released on October 6. More than a month to play through the single player!

I stand corrected!

Well let’s see here.
Restricted Dialogue Wheel
Weapon and character designs just as bad as Fallout 3
Abhorrently low Field of View on console versions
Paid mods* (*maybe but I wouldn’t put it past them after what they tried with Skyrim)
“Dynamic” systems which “just work” (Because Bethesda are well known for releasing functional and bug free products, and Todd Howard has never lied about features in their games.)
Writing by the same people who wrote the disaster that is Fallout 3 (See here http://www.shamusyoung.com/twentysidedtal… for a good breakdown)
Made by developers who have no idea of the central themes of the Fallout series and seem to think it’s “lel so whacky 1950’s future xDDDDDDDDDDDD
Yeah, it’s gonna be great.

MGS3:

I actually own physical copies of MGS2 and MGS3’s soundtracks, so those are my favorite soundtracks as a whole. Can’t Say Goodbye to Yesterday and Snake Eater are amazing, but The Best Is Yet to Come is just perfect .
Here’s my Metal Gear collection circa 2006. Obviously I’ve since bought the MGS4 Collector’s Edition, the MGS2/3/PW HD Remaster, Ground Zeroes, and some figurines.

Neat. Although one thing I hate about the HD Collection is that Snakeboarding isn’t included in their MGS2 version.

What an absolutely ridiculous minigame addition. This is the kind of shit that makes me love the series.
But you’re right, the HD Collection is missing a few of those tiny features that makes the games so great. MGS3, for example, does not include the “Secret Theater” bonus cutscenes for some reason, even though they were THE BEST.

I am extremely excited about two Metal Gear, and a bunch of old school indie games. That’s about it.

MGS3 wins hands down. Best game, best soundtrack.

My collection is very similar, except I have the original edition of MGS2, and The Art of Metal Gear Solid, and The Art of Metal Gear Solid 2.

Nice, I need to get around to picking up a copy of Sons of Liberty just to have it. The MGS1 artbook sounds lovely. My copy of The Art of MGS2 (pictured top-right) is a damn treasure .

A few days ago I reached 100% completion on Ground Zeroes (S-Ranks on all missions & difficulties). I spent $40 on it at release, and I’d say I got my money’s worth.

The last one I played was Sons of Liberty. At this point I’m too lost on the plot to even bother with any new ones.

The gameplay has evolved so much since MGS2. Have you seen any gameplay of MGSV yet? As someone who loves the games’ lore, I totally understand your plot concern. However, the gameplay looks so fucking good that you could absolutely dive in and have a blast.

I have not seen it, but honestly unless they port it to PC it’s a moot point.
